Duct Tape Utilization

Duck Brand Duct Tape sponsors 26 scholarships, annually. Two scholarships each of $5,000, $3,000 and $2000 are approved. Additionally, 10 scholarships of $500 are offered. To be eligible, you must attend the prom, and you and your date must wear outfits comprised solely of duct tape. You must be photographed in your sticky attire and submit the photos for review. Recipients are selected based on creativity, uniqueness, skill, and the amount of duct tape utilized.

Weaving

The National Make It Yourself with Wool (NMIYWW) scholarship bestows $2,000 and $1,000 awards for knitting with wool. Competition winners are judged on design, functionality, and general award-worthiness.

Beef

The National Beef Ambassador Program selects high school seniors to promote beef. Sponsored by the American National Cattlewoman Foundation, scholarships up to $1000 are awarded.

Vegetarianism

Two high school seniors, each year, earn $5000 scholarships by promoting vegetarianism in their schools and then writing about it. The funding is donated by The Vegetarian Resource Group.

Music from Space

The SPAACSE Galaxy Music Scholarship awards seniors who have a deep interest in a particular type of music genre called space music. The composition must be inspired by the beauty of outer space.

Short Stature

A national nonprofit organization, The Little People of America (LPA), selects a recipient each year from its members who are less than 4’11” in height.

Left-Handedness

The Frederick and Mary F. Beckley Scholarship offers up to $1,000 to left handed students who choose to attend Juniata College in Huntington, PA.

Last Name

The Zolp Scholarship covers full tuition for four years. It is reserved for students who will attend Chicago’s Loyola University . The student must be Catholic and is required to have born with the last name “Zolp”.
Students planning to attend Texas A&M University will receive full tuition if their last name, through marriage or birth, is Scarpinato.

Additional scholarships exist for student with the following last names:

Gatling or Gatlin- North Carolina State University

Baxendale, Bright, Downer, Hudson, or Thayer- Harvard University

Valkenburg or a variation thereof- university to be determined by the student

Tall Stature

A scholarship of $1,000 is awarded annually to women whose height exceeds 70 inches and to men whose tallness is in excess of 74 inches. Tall Clubs International (TCI) is the benefactor.
